Webceleb is NOW BOOKING local showcases every Sunday in partnership with Wave House Concerts at the newly renovated Sound Wave Music Hall.
It was your concert, your lineup, you decided...
And damn, the San Diego music fans let their voice be heard loud and clear. A couple Thursdays ago, 7/15/10 to be specific, the Sound Wave Music Hall flooded with people ready to jam out to some good music on Mission Beach. Three bands, DevOcean - a rock/ska/reggae band from Oceanside, Sandollar - a beach rock band from SD, and Friction Monster - an indie rock band from SD, all took the stage and instantly started to electrify the crowd. We were blown away as were many of the fans who helped pack the house.
With the sun setting in the distance, it was time to get down. If you love supporting local music, you missed one hell of a killer show. Well over 300 people gathered from all around San Diego to drop their corporate headaches, release the tension from a long work day, let their hair down, and put down a cold one at one of SD's premeir live music venues.
The bands each played approximately 1 hr sets. Friction Monster opened up with some hardcore indie rock and a badass Pixies cover, setting the vibe for one hell of a concert. Friction Monster's Rick Parkhurst later told us, "From start to finish the night was rocking, and totally awesome. Great music, great people, and an all around great show." Sandollar was up next and blew the crowd away. The energy from the keyboard and funky bass was heard on the beach driving in passerbys left and right. And to end the night, DevOcean put on a sweet performance with a couple Sublime covers to get the crowd moving and shaking.
Mike Sebourn and the guys from DevOcean reached out to give us their thoughts on the show: "The approach that webceleb.com takes to guarantee a good turn out by letting the fans buy tickets to their favorite local artists shows is awesome in that the fans can buy tickets online, which is really convienient. It helps the artist in that it gives another avenue to promote themselves where all media is in the same place, and also allows them to reach out to new fans, expanding their base. Their amped attitude and love for music makes them a great partner to work with because they love music and love what they do. The show was awesome as the Sound Wave provided real quality sound/lighting management in a really laid back setting that helped us rock the socks off mission beach. Not to mention the equipment list, nice house gear. We had so much fun hanging out with these guys and the feedback we got was amazing. Webceleb.com has a really cool thing going and we are looking forward to collaborating with them in the future as we continue to drop bombs on SoCal!"
